In August 2015, Google announced its restructuring into Alphabet Inc., a new holding company. The fine, imposed by French authorities, was due to Google’s lack of transparency and inadequate information regarding user consent policies, highlighting the importance of stringent data protection practices.
Google is sunsetting Google+ due to consistently low user engagement. The decision follows significant data privacy issues discovered on the platform. Google is shifting its focus towards more successful and widely-used services.
